The Adventure Begins
As the sun rose on a crisp Wednesday morning, Michael and Natalia set off from Jacobs Well with two 8.5m Alloy Cabins, ready for an exciting adventure. By mid-morning, they had successfully landed on Moreton Island and set up our Sealegs base camp. Positioned beside the Fire Station, where the event’s activities were hosted, our stand—with Sealegs-branded gazebos, beach umbrellas, flags, and brochures—was hard to miss. We were in great company too, sharing the spotlight with fellow sponsors ARB (4x4 Accessories Australia) and City Hire.
Friendly faces from the Sealegs family were everywhere, and the energy was palpable as we geared up for the exciting days ahead.
A Community United
Thursday morning brought more action. Michael crossed back to the mainland in an 8.5m Alloy Cabin to pick up a Sealegs owner and his wife from Brisbane, delivering their freshly serviced Sealegs back to them by mid-morning. Their smiles said it all as they cruised down the island’s stunning coast to their holiday home.
By Friday, the event was in full swing. Four young members of the Sealegs family - decked out in Sealegs t-shirts and hats - stole the show, catching the biggest fish in their category! Their triumph earned them plenty of admiration and added a special highlight to the day’s festivities.
Sealegs BBQ and Camaraderie
Saturday was another day to remember. After a morning of fishing, we relocated our base camp to Castaways for the Sealegs Owners and Associates BBQ. The evening was filled with laughter, delicious food, and inspiring conversations. Among the many topics discussed was the enthusiastic interest of some Sealegs owners in planning a future trip to New Zealand to demo the impressive 12RC model. It’s always exciting to see our Sealegs family eager to embark on new adventures.
A Stunning Finale
The weekend culminated in a spectacular finale on Sunday morning. At 7 am, we moved our Sealegs-branded camp to the beach near the Bulwer Wrecks for a rally and BBQ breakfast. Against the stunning backdrop of Moreton Island, James from Boat Promote captured breathtaking footage of the 9m RIB, 7.5m RIB, and 8.5m Alloy Cabin in action.
The final breakfast on the beach was a fitting end to an unforgettable weekend. Surrounded by natural beauty and great company, we reflected on the bonds formed and strengthened over these four days.
More Than Just an Event
The Moreton Island Fishing Classic was more than a fundraiser for the Rural Fire Brigade; it was an opportunity to connect with our Sealegs community and showcase our brand to a wider audience. The relationships we nurtured and the incredible Australian marketing material we captured are just some of the highlights we’re excited to share with the world.
